Legal Address Registration
Once you receive your Temporary Residence Permit, there’s one more important step to take — registering your place of residence in Ukraine. It’s a legal requirement and an essential part of settling in comfortably during your studies.
What is address registration?
Address registration means officially registering where you live in Ukraine. After your residence permit is issued, you need to inform the authorities of your actual address so it can be added to the state register.
By Ukrainian law, international students must register their address within 30 calendar days of receiving their Temporary Residence Permit.
Why timing matters
You have 30 days to complete your address registration. Missing this deadline may lead to a fine and can make everyday life more difficult.
Without address registration, your residence permit still identifies you, but accessing important services—such as opening a bank account, getting medical care, or handling official paperwork—may be limited.
Where do you register your address?
Address registration is done only at a Center for Administrative Services (CNAP).
You should apply at the CNAP that serves the area where you live. Applications are usually submitted in person, and in some cases through an authorized representative.
What documents will you need?
To register your address, you will typically need:
- your valid passport;
- your Temporary Residence Permit;
- proof of where you live
(such as a rental agreement, property ownership document, or the owner’s consent); - a completed address registration form.
The exact list of documents may vary slightly depending on the CNAP.
How the process works
- Visit the CNAP near your place of residence.
- Submit your documents for review.
- Your address is officially added to the state register.
- Once the information is recorded, your registration is complete.
Why this step is important
Registering your address helps you:
- keep your residence permit fully valid;
- avoid fines and legal issues;
- easily access banking, healthcare, and other services;
- live and study in Ukraine with confidence and peace of mind.
